A Christmas Adventure for Kids
Noel the Christmas elf invites you on a Christmas tour of Tallinn's Old Town in search of that true Christmas feeling
Overview
I am Noel the Christmas elf, and I have a secret for you – I have lived in Tallinn’s Old Town since before there was a single fortress on Toompea. Although in years I am older than your great-great-great-great-grandmother and -grandfather put together, in the world of elves I am still quite a young elf. Just about exactly your age, my dear little friend.
Since quite some time has passed since my birth, my family no longer remembers exactly when that important event – my arrival into the world – took place. But so that every relative can feel they are the one who remembers the right day I was born, I celebrate my birthday every single day.
In my short life as a Christmas elf I have seen quite a lot of what has happened in Tallinn. Do you know, for example, how the elf’s hat really got its colours (nothing to do with Coca-Cola — much more to do with our dear Tallinn); who I fly around with when Rudolph the reindeer is in the busiest season of his year but I need to bring a present for your slipper; or why it is important to do good deeds?
Sometimes the Christmas feeling plays hide-and-seek and slips away into one of Tallinn’s wall towers or a narrow archway. But I know all of those hiding places, and I will find the Christmas feeling no matter whether we have snow or not. Shall I tell you a secret? As a Christmas elf I can go looking for the Christmas feeling even in midsummer. I don’t sleep through the summer — I bustle about our Old Town all year round.
